Job Summary
A reputable restaurant in Wuse 2, Abuja is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong culinary expertise, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality dishes while maintaining top standards of hygiene and efficiency.
This role requires a proactive professional capable of supervising kitchen activities, ensuring consistency in meal preparation, and driving overall kitchen performance.
Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen management and food preparation.

Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow.

Prepare high-quality meals according to menu specifications and standards.

Ensure proper plating, presentation, and portion control.

Monitor ingredient quality, freshness, and inventory levels.

Enforce kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation regulations.

Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and specials creation.

Train, mentor, and guide junior kitchen staff to improve performance.

Maintain cost control by minimizing food waste and optimizing resources.

Ensure timely meal preparation during peak dining hours.

Support in receiving, inspecting, and storing food supplies.

Step in to lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.
Requirements

5–7 years’ experience as a Sous Chef or senior cook in a reputable restaurant.

Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen operations, and menu planning.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.

Proven ability to manage kitchen staff and coordinate operations.

Culinary school training or certification is an added advantage.

Strong attention to detail and passion for delivering high-quality meals.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
