Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Kitchen Chef to support kitchen operations in our hospitality establishment in Guzape, Abuja. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and cooking of both continental and local dishes, support senior chefs, and ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and efficiency in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Chef and kitchen team in daily food preparation and cooking.
  • Prepare ingredients for continental and local dishes as directed.
  • Support in cooking, seasoning, and plating meals according to kitchen standards.
  • Ensure food presentation is consistent with quality expectations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.
  • Assist in proper storage and handling of ingredients and food items.
  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, and instructions from senior chefs.
  • Help manage kitchen stock and report low inventory when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Support smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Commis Chef, or Assistant Chef.
  • Basic to good knowledge of continental and local Nigerian cuisine.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good teamwork, communication, and willingness to learn.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long hours.
  • Punctual, disciplined, and reliable.
